Who we are

Talia Books is a bookkeeping practice based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice, and we are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. You can reach us at hello@taliabooks.com.

What we collect

From website visitors: the name, email address, phone number and message you submit through our contact form, plus anonymised usage data from analytics cookies if you consent to them.

From clients: the financial records, invoices, bank data and identification documents needed to keep your books and to meet our obligations under the Money Laundering Regulations.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We respond to enquiries on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us. We process client records to perform our contract with you. We keep identification and due diligence records because the Money Laundering Regulations require it — that is a legal obligation, not a choice, and it means we cannot delete those records on request during the retention period below. Analytics cookies are used only with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

Our accounting software provider (Xero), our email provider, and HM Revenue & Customs where we file on your behalf as your agent. We may share information with your own accountant where you have asked us to. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for marketing purposes.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become engagements are deleted within 12 months. Client records and anti-money laundering documentation are retained for five years after our engagement ends, as required by the Money Laundering Regulations, and then deleted.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have inaccurate information corrected, to object to or restrict certain processing, to request deletion where no legal obligation requires us to keep it, and to receive your data in a portable format. Email us and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you spoke to us first.
